[This is an archive post about the first version of Avoyd which we now call Avoyd 1999. The full game is now free to download.]
Those of you who actually read some of the blurb we've been putting out with the demo may have noted that Avoyd is supposed to be sold over the internet sometime in the summer of 2001. Indeed, the mysterious silence here at EnkiSoftware over the last couple of months has in part been down to getting prepared for this. Soon, we'll be releasing the latest demo version, and also giving you the chance to buy the full game.
By buying the full game now, you'll be getting extra functionality, and free updates via our registered member service. We're also looking into ways to let you help direct the development of the game. Best of all, the earlier you buy the game, the less you pay.
On another note, we have changed our plans somewhat by deciding to spend some time after the next release investigating AI opponents (bots to the initiated). I've argued against this in the past as my primary concern is to make Avoyd a fun multiplayer game. However, practice makes perfect, and we don't always have the opportunity to play against others, so having some form of AI opponent would make sense.
